| ZiyoNET, national public educational network |
One of the main directions of UZINFOCOM’s activity is development of the national public educational network called ZiyoNET (“ziyo” in Uzbek means “enlightenment”), which was created on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan in 2005.
The ZiyoNET Resource Center operates within the UZINFOCOM Center, with branches at the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education and the Ministry of Public Education.
The ICT sector experiences huge fundamental changes. In the long-term outlook, the costs for ICT services will continue falling down, while the volumes are going to increase. In these circumstances, no one can rival ZiyoNET, due to the principle incorporated at its foundation, which allows residents of Uzbekistan access the network resources at special prices. |
